*In 1st grade we slowly ease into the homework process, please don't worry if you don't see all of the item below come home right away.
HOMEWORK FOLDER and AGENDA BOOK
Each night your child will bring home their homework folder and agenda book as well as a parent folder. Please check these folders each nigh, complete the homework (1st graders) and paperwork (parents) inside and return them to school the next day. First graders should do as much of their homework as they are able to independently. Parents please check and sign your child's agenda book each night. This system teaches children organization and responsibility and helps everyone to stay on top of things.
READING LOGS and BOOK BAGGIES
Book baggies and reading logs will go home on Monday and need to be returned completed by the following Monday. Please have your child read aloud to you for 15 minutes each night and help them complete their reading log. They should read as many books as they can in the allotted time. Though your child will be reading more than one book a night, for now, please help them to choose one book to write on their log. By the time your child returns their book baggy the following Monday they should be able to read each book in their baggy with fluency and accuracy.
Reading Pirates is a voluntary incentive based reading program. Students are given a pirate reading log every 2 weeks (in addition to their regular weekly reading logs) if they complete the required additional reading time they receive an incentive.
Spelling words for the week will be sent home on Mondays. Spelling tests are on Friday. Please help your child study for a few minutes each night.
ROCKET MATH BINDERS AND QUICK FACTS
Rocket math binders go home every Monday and should be returned to school on Friday of each week. We will have a timed quick facts test every Friday. Please help your child study their facts for a few minutes each night.
